2011 Gosnells Junior Tournament - Saturday 12 November 2011

The 2011 Gosnells Junior Tournament was held at Kenwick and Districts Recreational Centre which had a total of 37 juniors. It was a little low in numbers for a Novice Event but it was a good smooth running event with the players who played. The biggest problem of the day was someones coke can that fell on the floor during the short break and not having access to the mop (for some strange reason the cleaning products seem to be locked away) had to clean it up with about 50 hand napkins and a little bit of water.

The Newbie division was dominated by Reiden Rufin and Logan Ives, with Reiden winning the division with a perect score of 7/7. The Novice division was won by Patrick Gong with 6/7. The U12 Open division was again won by Dhruv Bhardwaj with 5/7 and U18 Open division was won by Chris Doukakis with 5.5/7. Well Done to everyone for making it a smooth running event.

Thanks again to Ben Lodge for doing a great job behind the computer today and Haydn Barber (CAWA President) for helping the kids entering their results in. Also to Louise Bosnyak for helping to keep some of the kids under control today. Hope to see you all back next year.

2011 Maddington Junior Tournament - Saturday 17 September 2011

The 2011 Maddington Junior Tournament was held at Kenwick and Districts Recreational Centre which had a total of 57 juniors playing in the 4 divisions. The Newbie section was the biggest division with 22 players and the Under 18 Open only had 8 players, which was held as a round robin tournament.

Overall it was a great tournament and looking for to the next Junior Tournament at the same venue on the 12 November 2011. Hopefully to see everyone back again and maybe even a few more, especially in the U18 Open division.

2011 Kenwick Novice Tournament - Saturday 16 July 2011

Total Chess first event was a success after a small problem from the pairing program I was using at the start of the tournament didnt work so good on the day. But once changing to the usual program there was no problems with the rest of the event running smoothly. I usually say to people that the first time you do anything in life, it doesnt turn out the way you want it too. I think that showed on the day with the first Total Chess event.

After reducing the number of rounds from 7 to 5, it was still excellent to see that the kids really enjoyed the day. It didnt bother them at all that they only had 5 games not 7. When I asked them "do you want to come back next week?" They shouted out "YES".

The next event will be on Saturday 17 September where it will be expected to run much better.
